Another CO session!

This is another girl that makes me smile. I met “J” in college. We were in the same sorority and became friends instantly. She can always bring a smile to your face and make you laugh. Now she is married and lives in CO with her 4 children and her hubby! They have a nanny who is super sweet too. She came along for the photo shoot and I even captured an image with her and the 4 kids (watch the slide show).

We met at the same cute little town outside of Red Rocks for the start of our images. Then we headed into the mountains for the rest and a little blue cow eatery for ice cream at the end! We had great light and just a beautiful day. The kids did such a great job and I even got all of them looking at one point with smiles on their faces (all of you photogs out there know how hard it is to get a 5,4,3 and 6 month old to look at the same time and smile… I had to be extra silly for this session!).

Thank you guys for a great session! I will see you when you come back to KC in Dec for your family session. Enjoy your images and slide show HERE!

three peeks from this weekend…

I feel the busy of fall coming on! In a few SHORT weeks all of those fall sessions for CHRISTMAS will begin (did I say CHRISTMAS?!!?). In 12 days it will be Christmas in July too! That is when we all dress up in Santa jammies, drink hot chocolate (turn the AC really low if it’s 100 out) with marshmallows and watch a Christmas movie (I am pretty sure it will be Rudolph). With that said, I am feeling the busy already. I had three more sessions this weekend and wanted to give each one a sneak peek since it will be more than a week before they get their slide shows and online proofs.

I know it’s early to think about Christmas, but you can use pictures taken anytime this year for a custom card or a great gift for someone! We can make a storyboard collage, put images into an album/coffee table book, put the image on canvas or just order a print or two for your loved one. Another idea for a gift this year is a gift certificate for Jamie Miller Images (yes, I have them!). They are a great way to surprise someone with a portrait session for 2009 or give them a credit to buy prints from one of your sessions. The options are endless!

Enjoy the peeks! There are more sessions coming up this week/weekend and MANY more sneak peeks to post so stay tuned….

Oh, my hubby is doing better. The stint comes out tomorrow and life should be back to normal!

Sat morning session (in the pouring rain!!!!!!)…. he is so CUTE!

14 months old in CO!

I just love this gal and her little girl. “J” and I go way back to college days when she played softball and I ran track and we met just doors down in our dorm. We have been friends ever since! Now she is a dentist in CO for kiddos along with her hubby. She would like to come back to KC and start a practice someday so when they decide to come back here we will just give them our house and we can take theirs b/c my husband is DYING to move back to CO someday. He told me he wanted to put us on a 5 year plan to get there when we came back from vacation (every time we go there he says the same thing when we come back so don’t get scared… I am not leaving… just visiting the beautiful state). BUT, if I ever live there people better watch out b/c the place is amazing and oh the pictures I could take there…… we won’t go there. I was only allowed to do a few sessions when I was there (we were on vacation and my camera was supposed to take a little vacation too!).

We had a great session. We met in this little town and then headed up to Red Rocks for the end of our session. I am not from there so I had to find a place that would accommodate two sessions one of the mornings we were out there and this was middle ground. I just said a prayer on my way to the session and it worked! The little town had all this character, vintage benches and stores. It was perfect! The light out there is perfect too and so was little “L”. She was so happy and we had so much fun together. She was such a good listener and we ran around the little town (when I say little it was literally a street long and so cute) and then took some pictures on a few rocks for daddy.

Thank you for a great session. I will be back and we will have to capture her again! I love you guys. It was so good to see you. Enjoy your sneak peek and slide show here!

For all you photogs out there I shot this entire session with my 85mm/1.2 lens on 1.2 the ENTIRE TIME (except when mom joined the images then I shot 4.0 with the two of them). I love the results. There are images here that have NO photoshop done to them whatsoever!! (besides the sharpening I do for web). I LOVE this lens! LOVE, LOVE prime lenses….

peeks from this week

I am still behind since my husbands body decided to give him trouble this past week and I have been playing nurse instead of photographer;)! I think it’s safe to say I really like my job and I don’t know how the “real” nurses do it (you all have a special gift!). Anyway, I still managed to squeeze in a couple shoots (thanks to my dear friends out there who watched my kiddos… love you guys… you are the best!!). And for all of you reading who are waiting on images, they are coming. Thanks again for your patience.

I do have to say with all of this happening in our life this week it makes me thankful for my clients too. People can hire any photographer to capture their memories for them. BUT they choose a photographer because they can connect with them, relate with them and they just like them. Life is full of emotion, love and laughter and at the end of the day I am so blessed to be able to capture this for my family and for all of my clients out there. That is why I do what I do b/c I love life and I love connecting with people and capturing relaxed photos of people doing life. On the other side is the business and people pick me for my speedy turn around on images and the great customer service I provide. I had a client tell me she felt like she was the only person I was dealing with (when I really interact with hundreds of you out there). SO with all of this being said (yes, I have a point) I feel bad when my business side gets shut down for a bit, but my family is first (after the man upstairs:)) and I have to make sure they are functioning so my business can function. My husband is a huge part of my business and when he is down we are slow or down for a bit. THANK YOU for all your patience and understanding during this brief downtime for us.

If I could divide myself up into 5 people and add one more hour to the day then things might be different BUT until someone can tell me how to do this I am pretty much a ONE man show who needs sleep and needs to keep herself and family healthy!

THANK YOU for being the people you are and for choosing me to capture your life! There are a few images here from this week and one is of my nephews (taken back in June when I stayed with them while shooting a wedding out West). I just love these two little guys and so before I left for KC the morning after the wedding we headed to their backyard for a little photo fun. The other two are of a 10 day old newborn and twins who are 9 mths now!

ENJOY the peeks!!

“K” senior 2009

“K’s” senior year is coming up and we had a great session a couple weeks ago. She and her mom drove all the way from Great Bend, KS for our session. We had a great time. They met me at my home and I drove them all over KC! They are some of the nicest people. I love it when I get to drive my clients b/c I really get to know them. I think “K” would make a great Buckle model too. She sported their clothes well. I know one of the Regional Managers (shooting their images in a few weeks!!) and I will put a plug in!

Thank you guys for a great session. Thank you for making the trip here for your images and spending the afternoon with me. Enjoy your slide show HERE!!
