the real session!

It was cold. She is THREE. She had to wear the pink shirt she wore for this morning’s session for this afternoons (even though I had an entirely different shirt for the second outfit). You don’t argue with a three year old when you want a picture without red eyes and a runny nose. You give in even though you are the mom and let her wear the pink shirt and you give her Hershey’s kisses by the bag and white mints to make her even want to get in front of the camera. A bow made it to her head and stayed in (she is not a fan of having anything in her hair). No, we did not spend the entire day taking pictures (even though it felt like it). We spent minutes this morning b/c she wasn’t’ into it (I AM HER MOM and playing games in the cold isn’t her idea of fun and making leaf hats in the cold wasn’t her idea of fun and she kept looking at me like who are you and where is my mom) and a good 15 min this afternoon after her much needed LONG nap AND we got THESE AMAZING IMAGES!! amen. life is good.

This was my day in a nutshell. These are the images. I LOVE my job. I love what I do BUT I see why people hire photographers. Which I may have to do one day. My kids know me but they would rather have me hold their hand, hug them while we are trying to get a picture, kiss me in the middle of a session. They don’t want to run away from me and have fun, they want to be ON me or hugging me.

Enjoy the images!! I know I am biased but she is one cutie patootie and I love every bit of her and even though it was like pulling teeth today the results are amazing and my little spitfire did a GREAT job!
I have 4 sessions coming up this weekend so stay tuned for some more fun stuff!

We Will!

It was cold. Not just cold it was 17 degrees outside, SO freezing out… but that didn’t stop these two from shining in front of the camera! They are getting married this summer and I can’t wait for their wedding. When they came to my studio office for their consultation I just new we were a fit. As some of you know I am a runner and have run many marathons and races in my life. I have run the Boston marathon (that is how I met my hubby) so running is not only another passion of mine it’s how I met my hubby.

I love bridal consuls b/c it gives me a chance to meet a potential couple whom I may share life with for a period of time (if not the rest of their life) and then capture one of the most important days in their life. It’s like buying new shoes. You need to make sure you are a fit before you can continue on. Well, we start talking and running came up and one topic led to another and I just knew they were the perfect fit! As long as they liked me and thought the same we were made for each other!! They also did a 20 miler the morning of our session so I knew we could handle the cold.

Well, here are the results. We had so much fun. “K” was worried we wouldn’t get them same results as a “normal” outside shoot with “normal” outside temps. Well, they were game for the cold and the images couldn’t have turned out better! I can’t wait to see which one you choose for your save the date!!

Thank you for a GREAT session. Thanks for sharing life with me for an afternoon in the cold. I look forward to getting to know you guys even more and capturing your day this summer! Here is a slide show of a few more!!

Design

Here is a fun image from a mini shoot yesterday (and our FABULOUS weather!) with the gal who designed my new branding. Her new website is coming out in the next few months so we had a little session to get a head shot. She is a graphic designer and I am so glad we are neighbors!! Now, all the kiddos were around and her littlest joined us in the end. It’s such a fun image I think it will have to be on the site somewhere!

Oh, I had to add one more of our family from last weekend. It’s not that often I am in a picture and I have been out here twice this week! After this week I won’t talk about the birthday party anymore, promise. At our house you decorate the week before and celebrate for a few weeks, so it’s only fair that I still talk about it. When “K” gets older and reads this blog she will love that we are still talking about it!

Have a great weekend! Pray for the snow to hold off so my sessions can take place!!

a few more and books!

Yes, she is my little peanut and she is so cute I could post pictures of her all day! I know.. bias.. she is mine….AND you only turn three once! Here are a few more images from the big day. NOW I need to figure out when to take her REAL 3 year old pictures and I hope to do that before she turns 4. Just kidding. It’s tough with those winter birthday’s BUT I am going to get her all dressed up and she will have a little fun downtown here in a week or two (cold or no cold). If I was on top of my game I would have had an outfit for her tomorrow b/c it’s supposed to be 60 here. Yes, another one of those crazy warm days here in Kansas. Today it was 32. Tomorrow 60 and then Friday 30 again. No wonder we all have constant colds in the winter.

Okay, now on to more exciting news. I found another FUN vendor for albums and books. I am going to try and get a sample book or two here soon. I love finding new things that make me smile and these books are so COOL. They will be great for wedding albums and for those of you who want to showcase all of your images in a classy book! They take about 6 weeks to order so it’s not a fast process but great books take a while to print and bind. More on this later….

Enjoy the images!
