When I walked into their home the smell of baby was in the air. I just love the smell of newborns. They all have this unique new smell and I just think it’s the best smell ever! I have been shooting a lot of newborns lately and the min I walk into their homes I can smell it…. simply the best! It makes me smile b/c the next part after I walk in is even better….. I get to capture their first moments, their first grins (you know those smirks when they nod off and start dreaming… and any other first they want to give my camera.

This little guy was born a few days before the 4th of July and I had the honor to capture him last week. You might remember this family from “L’s” maternity session about a month ago. Well, little “E” joined the family so now big sister has someone to play with and mom and dad have another little one to love!

His room was done in sock monkey (SO CUTE!). There are some images in the slide show, if you want to check it out. He was just so cute! I am so excited to follow him through his first year of life! We will see more of him in Oct. And I am sure the cuteness will just increase so watch out.

Last weekend I had the opportunity to capture this little guy and the newness of his life! He was born a little early so he was still tiny for his newborn session. Normally I like to do newborns 2 weeks and under. Little “L” did not disappoint, though! He was a champ in the beginning until we decided to take his clothes off. Some babies do well with the nakedness, but this guy preferred his diaper and onsie. We captured every detail of him and he is ADORABLE! Mom and dad have a great sense of style so I am very excited about the year I get to spend with this family capturing their little guys life! I love how mom wore an orange dress for the session. Color is my favorite!!

New babies are so precious. They smell so good. They are peaceful. They are little gifts from God. I was honored to capture little “J” last weekend. We just finished up the maternity session a few weeks ago and the little guy decided to come a little early (on Easter!). He was that little peaceful baby for most of our session. He was awake for most of our session and newborn sessions tend to take a little longer than others b/c babies need to eat and sleep. He was over stimulated and needed his sleep so mom tried to give him a little snack (of milk) and then we thought he should nod off (since he was up for an hour and a half and that is a long time for a brand new baby). Well, we waited and waited and no sleep. So we left him alone for a bit and he finally caught his zzz’s. Then some more shooting began until we had to move him for a few shots with brother. Then the crying began b/c you don’t wake a sleeping baby….. we got a few shots with brother and then a couple with mom and dad and then our sessions was done. It was cold, dreary and wet outside this past Sunday, but inside a cozy home was a brand new baby girl. Mom, dad, grandma and her two older brothers were inside getting used to their new norm. As I walked in the door I could tell joy filled their home! They were all so excited about their newest addition.

We started off with a few shots and then the little princess was hungry so while she was eating I checked out her room and what a CUTE room it was! I snapped an image of her shabby chic bed (check out the slide show for this image). Her mom designs clothes, blankets, bibs and much more so her room was well decorated. The last image posted is of little “R” in a basket with one of the blankets “J” made. One side was purple and the other was like a quilt with lots of different fabric. I had the privilege of capturing the newest member of the “C” family this past weekend. What a cutie pie! His big sister and big brother were very proud of him so they had to hop in a few of the images too. He was so alert for only being on this earth for 12 days. We thought for sure he would nod off but he was awake until the very end (where we got some great sleeping shots!). Thank you guys for a great session.
