Happy Father’s Day!

It’s here! It’s the day we celebrate all the dads out there. I love this day b/c I have an amazing dad and my hubby is an amazing dad!! Happy day to all you father’s. My sweet hubby is driving back from the lake, as I type, with my two wonderful kiddos. My father in law and my hubby took them fishing for the weekend (I stayed here to get caught up and shoot a few sessions).

my kiddos – blog update – out of the office for a couple days

I don’t post a lot about my family out here. If there were more hours in the day I would blog everyday, share my life with you and then some BUT I have a hard time keeping up with what is on my plate these days. In time I may start sharing more of me and my family out here but for now facebook gets all the updates and little snippets of our life (which in a few days you will be able to follow me on twitter AND facebook because my site is getting a little makeover and the buttons will be out here). I am super excited for the makeover. I love change.

Now back to the post of my kiddos… we had a birthday here last week and someone turned 6! My little gal turned 4 back in Jan. so we had a little mini session the other day downtown (in the RAIN) and these are my favs. Enjoy! They are growing up so fast. My little gal is only 4 and just learned out to ride her TINY little bike without training wheels. For some reason little things like that hit me hard and make me realize they are not my babies anymore…. when they walk over to the trash, throw their training wheels in it, get on their TINY little bike and pedal away….need I say more.

On another side note I am having a little minor surgery tomorrow so I will be out of the loop for a couple days. Sneak peeks, proofs and orders will resume towards the end of the week. If you call or send me an e-mail I will get back to you then!

Happy Monday! Enjoy my sweet kids… If I get a chance I will post a few pix from the birthday party b/c we had a surprise visitor from the dark side who came to fight the young jedi’s..now remember don’t hold your breath… I will try …

I am working on a project with a client so there is more to come where this image came from but I had to post this image. Not only is one of the cute girls in the picture my little girl but the other could be my little girl (as much time as we spend with her). I love this image for many reasons and had to share!

On another note spring is in full bloom and we are LOVING the great weather here! Spring sessions are booked but I am currently booking summer and will start to fill up fall around the corner. If you want me to capture a slice of your life this year and want to get in my book I typically fill up 2-3 months in advance. Keep that in mind when you plan out this fabulous year!! I will be doing a few mini sessions this fall so if that interests you contact me for more information on that when the time gets near.

Again, thank you all for your interest in my work! I am going to TRY to be more diligent out here and post more stuff b/c there is always something in the works around here. We are super busy and sometimes this piece of my world gets neglected. If you are interested in purchasing a skirt like this check out THIS!!

Yep! It’s an image and I am in it. I have a wireless shutter so there is NO reason I shouldn’t be in more pictures so on Easter after church I pulled it out. With a lot of bribing (for the hubby and the kids) here are some of the results. I had to put in a few of the outtakes b/c this is just how a shoot works. If you have never been in front of my camera you may not understand how the process works but if you have then all of these images will make sense to you. The ones with just the kids I took myself, but the ones I am in I held my wireless remote in my hand and shot all of them. We played, had fun and walla… here is the result! I do plan on taking MORE in the future b/c I want to look back and be in the images! For all of you photogs out there these are almost straight from camera… a little sharpening and bump in the contrast….

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter! He is RISEN!! I love this time of year…

Here are a few images from this weekend! For those of you waiting on your online proofs, they are coming this week, as well as more sneak peeks. As you all know from previous posts things are busy around here! The kiddos started school (tears were shed this year b/c they are both in preschool), Daddy celebrated his birthday today (the kids made the cake) and we tried to surprise him with his cake so we let him take a nap and then took the cake to the bedroom to wake him up! It’s hard having a b-day on the weekend with kiddos (they like to spill the beans!!). My family was in town this weekend too (lots of fun with them). We are going to try to get on our school schedule this week which means productivity and sanity for mom !

Office is closed – working vacation!

That sounds kind of silly, doesn’t it?? Well, I will be out of the office until Aug 11th. I will be on a small vacation with my kiddos (fun image below from our CO vacation). I am heading home to spend some time with my family and capture a couple seniors, a few families and a few kiddos! SO I will have a little time away from KC but it will be a working vacation while Grandma and Grandpa spoil my two little ones.

We are back! The wedding was a success! The bride and groom were simply wonderful and I enjoyed meeting all their friends and family from all over (more to come!!). Our vacation was much needed. If you keep up with my blog you will know that every year when we come back from CO we want to move there. I may talk about it for a few posts but I am pretty sure we are here in KS for another year (wink). I just wish the mountains were in our backyard!! We spent time with friends, every year more seem to head out there!! Then we ended up up Estes where there is no TV, no computers no AC and you sleep in a cabin with the windows open all night (as my son would say we were in a lincoln log cabin – he is so cute – that is the first thing he said when we get to the cabin).

Well, there are many pictures to come. I shot a wedding, did a mini maternity shoot, captured a wonderful family and of course took a TON of images of my family. My kids already have dibs on the ones they want for their rooms. They want big images too. I am not kidding either they tell me they want to see all the detail in the picture (I wonder where they get that from ?!?!). Maybe I am creating future photogs!!

Enjoy this image of my kids having a GREAT vacation in the mountains (they are the best of friends and I love that!!). I have lots of sneak peeks coming and 4 more sessions this week so stay tuned for some great stuff!! I am getting to all the e-mails and voicemails too, so if you left me messages they are coming.

Oh, and it’s good to be back. Even though I miss the mountains and my sweet friends there is no place like home (now if we could transport our home in the summer to the side of the mountain and move it back here in the winter life would be even sweeter!!).

This evening I met Brooke. She was ADORABLE and so small (with a mind of her own at this young age of 6 days). I had a little scale we photographed her on and it read 6 lbs (the image coming later as well as the story!!). I will be heading to CO tomorrow to shoot a fabulous wedding with two amazing people this weekend (can you tell I am excited about it.. I love working with GREAT people!!).

My dad. The kindest most generous person I know. He would take his shirt off for anyone and has the biggest heart. Over the 4th of July weekend he turned the big 60!! My brother, sister and I planned this surprise party for him and it was a success. He had no idea that 60 people were going to be at the bbq he thought he was attending. He was completely shocked and we pulled it off.

The story – my cousin (Shalee Lehning) was drafted this spring into the WNBA (Atlanta Dream). Well, she was playing that evening at 6:30 (my dad watches every game). If they aren’t on TV he watches her on the computer. He wasn’t going to miss the game. As you can see with his T-shirt, he thought he was coming to watch the game and have a bbq with my uncle and brother. My uncle calls him up and invites him over for dinner. My sister in law with her little ones distracts him in the afternoon at the water park with all the grandkids. All of his sisters (4 of them) fly or drive in and all of my moms sisters (3 of them) and her brother (where the party was) arrive throughout the afternoon. We do the same. All of his friends arrive just as the party begins and my dad shows up and is SURPRISED!!

I love you, dad. I love who you are. I love how you take care of everyone. If there is one person I would want to be like when I grow up it’s you. Thank you for all you do and for who you are.

This morning I met Murphy. She just turned ONE! She was the cutest thing ever and we had a GREAT session. We are leaving town for the long weekend so lots of sneak peeks coming next week. Have a safe and happy 4th!!
